Maryland Relay was established in 1991 to serve Marylanders who have difficulty using a standard telephone. We provide a vast array of solutions to meet the diverse needs of our State, including:
Calling Options
If you, or a loved one, is Deaf, hard of hearing, late-deafened, DeafBlind, or has cognitive, mobility or speech difficulty, Maryland Relay offers many free calling options that enable you to make and receive calls. Learn more about our Relay services.
Telecommunications Equipment Provided by the State
Maryland Relay provides assistive telecommunications equipment to qualified Marylanders. Free training may also be available. Learn more about the Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) program.
Community Outreach
Maryland Relay staff members are active in educating the community about Relay services and assistive equipment through presentations, school programs, community events, business partnerships, and more. Learn more about our outreach efforts.
Maryland Relay is administered by Telecommunications Access of Maryland and is guided by the Governor’s Advisory Board of Telecommunications Relay. The services Maryland Relay provides are funded by the Universal Service Trust Fund (USTF).
