Chesapeake College – Welding/Metal Fabrication

Whether starting a business or working for a legacy manufacturer, trades programs prepare students for some of today’s most in demand and well paying careers. From repair and construction to processing and assembly, skilled trades talents are sought by employers in every industry.

Certificate provides students with specialized instruction in GMAW, GTAW, SMAW, and FCAW processes, metal fabrication, machining and CNC technologies. Students also develop proficiency with thermal and mechanical cutting processes. This certificate is ideal for students interested in career pathways involving metal fabrication in both shop and field settings using carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum. Completing this program will prepare students to pass various American Welding Society (AWS) performance qualification tests. Safety and professionalism are stressed throughout the program. Students should consult with the College’s Admissions Office or an academic advisor in planning an appropriate program.
